It seems we are living next to the neighbors from hell. It has to be pretty bad for me to use such words. Let me start off from the beginning. After we moved in things were bad right way with the gay guys next door. The gayness isn't the problem but the disturbances well into the wee hours in the morning are. These guy were sitting outside in their backyard watching a movie that was on inside their house. I don't know if they installed surround sound speakers in their yard but it sounded like I was sitting in a theater in my bedroom. This was going on every night until I couldn't take it anymore and had my husband climb up over the fence and kindly ask them to knock it off. Things had been better until last night. They had a party going on with lots of rowdy guests. They were peeing outside, extremly drunk, and fighting each other until at least 2 in the morning. Each time I would just fall asleep I would get woken up. So, what to do? My concern with calling the cops is that it may not be anonymous. At least I don't think so. But, I don't think they have given us a choice at this point. If this happens again I will. I also put in a call to the homeowners association to file a complaint. Hopefully, this situation will get better. If not, they picked the wrong neighbor to mess with!

Wow! So sorry to hear you are having to deal with all that noise and such. Is it possible to have a heart to heart with them some day while they are not in the midst of entertaining...? Do they seem like they will respond kindly to that?

Having experienced that very same thing at two different homes (after years and years of really wonderful neighbors), the best advice I can give you is to pray for them. Seriously.

We've learned that you definitely don't want to make enemies of people that you live next door to. The Bible tells us it's best to be at peace with our neighbors in as much as it concerns us (since we can't help what they do), and though things may be difficult for a while and we may have to turn the other cheek a lot, the results are much better in the long run. God's ways are always best.

When we moved into our current home we learned we had some druggie neighbors that we feared might start up (if they hadn't already) a meth lab and cause problems for the entire neighborhood. They didn't start their day until well after noon (usually with sunglasses on because they were hungover or stoned), and would sit on their front porch all day talking loudly on their phones, usually saying bad things about their entire block's worth of neighbors. It was awful.

It didn't appear that anyone living there had any gainful employment and we suspected that they may have been drug dealers. They would go long into the night with super loud music on their stereo, which they would blast out their front window (which literally rattled our windows due to the bass subwoofers or whatever they're called echoing off our house across the street from them.

Someone else (not us) called the cops on them the week we moved in and were painting until the wee hours of the morning, and they always blamed us for it, and were absolutely hateful towards us afterwards. There was also a period of time we worried they might vandalize our home while we were gone, as they watched everything we did, scowling at us.

What really broke my heart though, was that they had two little ones under 3 that will probably never hear normally thanks to their mom's lifestyle.

The more we prayed for them, the more my heart began to change towards them. I actually began to have compassion for them in their addiction and apparent 'lostness', and for those kids, and sought to help them anonymously (since they hated us) by giving them grocery cards.

I do believe the Lord was testing us in that situation, to see if we would be faithful to do His will, which we did...and then He totally surprised us.

We noticed one day during a cold snap that though they were all home, they'd apparently had their electricity turned off. They resorted to burning newly delivered phone books (theirs and many of their neighbors) and even chopped down a tree in the yard (of the home which we learned later they were renting) to use for firewood. At the same time, they began hiding their truck in the garage , apparently worried about it getting repoed. This is all in the dead of winter, mind you.

Not long after their financial troubles began, they suddenly up and moved. They'd apparently fallen hopelessly behind on their bills and were evicted.

We were sooo relieved.

If these guys next to you are fighting all the time, perhaps there is the possibility that they will break up or fall behind on their mortgage or whatever...one never knows. Just pray about it and see how the Lord works it all out for you.

I WOULD call the cops and I would not worry for 2 secs. about whether is is anon. or not. Something needs to be done if they are 'disturbing the peace'. They already know they are annoying... they will just push and push until someone pushes back.

That and pray!!
